I guess I’m something of a convert now. I’m very skeptical when it comes to anything outside of “hard science,” and that normally applies to the medical world. But after seven years of recurring gastrointestinal issues, with my GI specialist applying only steroids to temporarily relieve the problem (and not offering any actual advice for ending them permanently), I was forced to try Dr. Schwerte’s dual-medical approach (Western/Chinese) when a major flareup seriously threatened my health. Turns out I’m gluten intolerant (not the doctor’s diagnosis, but a lab result). That would have been nice to know years ago!
Dr. Schwerte put me on a regimen of acupuncture, herbal treatments and a mild diet. Over the course of about a month and a half I went from being pale and nutrient-starved to feeling completely normal, and on my way to lifelong prevention of further GI incidents. While I’m disappointed to have lost beer and bread from my diet, I’m glad to finally have some answers and know how to stay healthy from here on out.
